A person is considered a candidate
for hair transplantation, if he has a loose scalp, bald areas, side and back
hair to relocate, good understanding of hair transplantation. Hair
transplantation is a surgical technique used to reposition the bald resistant
hair from the side and back of the head on the bald scalp. In the past, people
used wigs to cover their bald scalp. But with time, technology took a new turn.
Hair transplantation evolved around the 1950’s.The phenomena “Donor Dominance”
was coined by Dr. Norman Orentreich. He conducted an experiment to understand
the principle of hair transplantation. He used the bald resistant hair on the
back and side of the head and relocated it on the bald scalp. The hair
relocated to work the same way as it did on bald resistant areas. This proved
that hair relocated could grow for a life time. The early stages of hair
transplantation were not perfect. The hair transplanted looked like the hair of
a Barbie doll toy.
As hair transplantation gradually
progressed, it started gaining popularity. By 1980s, hair restoration surgery
evolved with refined hair transplantation. Then in 1990s “Follicular Unit Hair
Transplantation” was introduced. Hair relocation became an option for bald
people consider. Different countries started introducing this surgery.
In Pakistan, hair transplant surgery
was not a common field. People who desired to get their hair relocated had to
travel abroad to be operated. Hair surgery itself was expensive and travelling
to another country required a huge amount of cash. This is when Dr. Sajjad in
Pakistan pondered over the need for hair transplantation in Pakistan. In 1995, Dr. Sajjad Khan founded
International Laser Hair Transplant Surgery Centre (ILHT). This company is the
creator of modern hair transplantation in Pakistan.
When Dr. Sajjad Khan founded ILHT, he was also a Diplomat, American
Board of Hair Restoration Surgery with 20 years of experience in the respected
field. To assist his customers, he called a team of hair surgeons and
technicians from the United States. He used the single follicle hair transplant
method and provided his services in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. He also had a skilled team by his
side to facilitate his customers. Customers were offered various services such
as hair transplantation, hair replacement and laser hair treatment. To provide a platform for customers that was easily accessible and comparatively affordable Dr.
Sajjad Khan took action and developed clinics for the benefit of their people
in Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore.
