What should the patient spend its first night after hair transplant surgery and what things he should to do to get better results?

The first night after hair transplant surgery is the most vital and crucial so, the patient should Avoid touching the newly hair grafts because they could fall out of the tiny and small incisions.
The patient should sleep in a semi-upright position and he should try to sleep with extra 2 pillows to lift up your head. This position is safe for your scalp and you have to sleep in this position the 3 first nights after hair transplant surgery.

Now the surgeon will give you with a spray (hair growth factor) for use at home. Spray the grafted area on the scalp with the lotion every 30 minutes the first night after surgery. Continue spraying the lotion on the newly hair grafts until there is no more spray left.

The patient should avoid all physical efforts like yoga and exercises in the first week after hair transplant surgery: avoid jumping and running, avoid blowing your nose too strongly because it will damage your hair grafts. Please stop sexually activity for one week after the surgery. The patient should avoid going to the swimming pool for at least 12 days after the hair transplant surgery. You will be given an antibiotic cream by your doctor after your surgery. This cream is very beneficial in healing so, start applying this cream two times daily to your scalp scar from the morning after surgery for 7 days (this cream helps in reducing scars marks and protect you from any type of infection).

Why pre-op scalp exercises are necessary and what special exercise is the most beneficial for patient’s scalp laxity?

It is important to know that pre-op exercises are easy to perform and good for the scalp. Due to the help of exercises patients can assist to make their hair transplant experience a success so, he should start scalp exercises two months prior to surgery. Scalp exercises can enhance scalp laxity which may permit more hair grafts to be harvested in a single hair transplant session. Even transplant patients with good laxity can benefit in the after result of the surgery. These exercises are not physically demanding and only take just a few minutes. It’s essential to focus most of your effort on the back of your head, where hair grafts are most often sourced, but it is important to massage your whole head.

Here it is three-step exercise approach, which is the easiest way to prepare your scalp for surgery

  1.  Clasp your hands and put your palms firmly on the back of your head, just above the boney bulge that runs horizontally at the back of your scalp.
  2.  Pull your hands forward toward your front scalp and gently start massaging and stretching the graft-area skin while at the same time moving your scalp up and down.
  3.  Make sure that you move your scalp only and don’t let your fingers slip over your hair.

The surgeons recommend performing above exercise for 5 minutes in the morning and 5 minutes in the evening time daily and they have no negative side effects. The sooner you perform scalp exercises the better you get optimum results.
